Testimonials & Reviews

Hi Kelly, You presented in Jordan Rude's Human Sexuality class and I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I'm a 19 year old trans guy. I was sitting in the front of the class and loved hearing your story. I was the only trans person in that class and, while everyone was always very accepting, it still seemed like they didn't really understand what trans people go through. At specific parts of your story, my eyes would start to water because it's just so nice to hear that other people go through the same thing I do. I really appreciated hearing a trans woman's story and comparing the ways we felt, in my head. I'm transitioning a lot younger thankfully but all the the ways you felt while figuring out yourself deeply resonated with me. You were so kind and understanding with everyone's questions. I really admire the way you are able to talk to so many people about transitioning and I hope that I can one day do the same. You were all around really inspiring and I loved your whole presentation. Thank you so much for being visible and educating others. As a much more quiet trans person, I really admire that. Also you looked stunning.

Hi I'm ________________ a 3rd year psychology student at UC Merced and I felt very compelled to let you know that your presentation was phenomenal. It was unbelievablly honest, personal, humorous and incredibly informative. Please keep sharing your story because so many people can greatly benefit from hearing it. And lastly thanks for sharing your story in the first place i was able to identify many parallels between ur acceptance of yourself and my own journey of accepting myself as a gay kid. Thanks for reading and stay awesome!

Thank you for contacting me Kelly. I wanted to check in with the class on Monday about your presentation to see if they had any questions or feedback (since we only meet Mondays and Wednesdays I had not had that chance yet). The feedback they gave was wonderful! They really enjoyed how organized you were, they appreciated the PowerPoint presentation and that you stayed focused throughout the talk. They especially liked how open and forthright you were with them about your experiences. They said "absolutely would want to have her back!" when asked if this was a good presentation to have each semester. And the most common comment was, "I can't believe she has only presented that talk two times!" So, thank you for all that you did that day. You are so professional and organized as a person and as a presenter. I really appreciate your willingness to reach out to the sex educators in the Central Valley and I wholeheartedly support your efforts to teach and enlighten. I wish you all the best and hope that we can have you back in my classroom again next semester!      ------Best, Karin

Ms. Kelly Denithorne provided my students with an informative, engaging and moving portrayal of her life as a trans woman. Her presentation allowed my students the opportunity to see what it's like to live as a trans person in America today. She presented her story with openness, honesty and a great sense of humor. Ms. Denithorne is an engaging and very personable presenter.                               ------       Dr. Ross Avilla UC Merced
